Many were here with post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, so common following participation in armed conflict and in some cases, the result of physical or sexual abuse. My night-time agonies were retreating and I could feel a tendency towards recovery. These too were veterans, but of a different sort of war. I wondered.
