Many were here with post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, so common following participation in armed conflict and in some cases, the result of physical or sexual abuse. Almost no interviews, despite the pile of applications. These too were veterans, but of a different sort of war. I’d always had a job, no matter how lowly.
