KVC’s Positive Impact Grows Nationally During the 1980-90s, KVC grew to represent one of the broadest child welfare and behavioral healthcare continuums of care in the nation. In 2003, to bring our name in line with the scope of our work, Kaw Valley Center became simply KVC Behavioral Healthcare.

These agencies investigate reports of abuse and neglect, and work closely with the court system to decide whether or not to remove a child from their home. While social workers do provide their professional perspective, ultimately a judge decides whether the child needs out-of-home care. The job is not a typical 8-hour workday
