Every year when I reach the end of Mental Health Awareness Month , I try to reflect. I reflect on mental health in the state of my community, my city and my country, and I wonder if anything has happened this month that could lead to substantial change. This year, I have to say I’m a little discouraged.

Infants are at increased risk of harm due to growth in the numbers of parents with mental health and substance misuse issues, ,research has found. According to the DfE’schildren in need census : Parental mental health concerns were identified 165,480 times in 2023-24, up from 158,330 in 2021-22, a rise of 4.5%.
