In Tuesday’s breakdown of mental health terms, I wrote about mental filters, what they look like and how they appear in our lives. Mental filters can go my many names, but what’s important to know is that they can impact the way we view the world. When mental filters go unchallenged for too long, they can change the way we think, the way we perceive what’s going on around us.
Addiction can have an immense impact on your physical health. Depending on the substance and severity, addiction can weaken your immune system and make you more vulnerable to illness, infection, and disease. It can also lead to health complications and put a person at risk of unintentional injuries and accidents. That’s why treatment programs address all aspects of a person’s addiction — including nutrition, exercise, and healthy activities — to strengthen physical health.
One of the key purposes of understanding what a systemic social work theory entails is to help practitioners focus on relationships.
