It was a black and white drawing by the Pulitzer Prize-winning artist Herblock that was originally published in the Washington Post in October 1947.

For many years I always made Thanksgiving dinner for our whole family and for friends away from their homes. Children read various inspirational passages before our meal, and we read this prayer every year.
