Some kids come home after school and can’t seem to hold themselves together. Meltdowns. There is a belief that after holding themselves together all day at school, they use home as a safe place to let it go. Maybe for some. For those where it may be the case that they truly are spent holding themselves together at school, we wonder about neurodivergences and/or mental health challenges.

Kids Bored?

The child said they were bored. It was a casual hint to the parent that the child wanted to watch TV. The child was hoping to appeal to the parent’s wish to make them happy by signaling distress. The child was moping. The parent said, “I hear you.” That’s it. Then the parent carried on with what they were doing. The parent knew not to rush in to make their child feel better by giving into something.

You have to understand, the nar-cissist isn’t looking for a win/win. They’re often not even looking for a win/lose. What they are looking for is to make the life of someone they blame, miserable. If they win something in the process, that’s just a bonus. Sure, there will be some outcomes they will prefer, but don’t lose sight that significantly, their motivation is your demise.
