By Marian Wright Edelman The night before he was assassinated, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his prophetic final speech, Ive Been to the Mountaintop, in Memphis, Tennessee. It was a speech he almost didnt give. He had returned to Memphis on the morning of April 3, 1968, to continue his support of the citys striking Black sanitation workers, but as the day went on he was exhausted and running a fever and the weather was stormy.

The watchdog that monitors Social Work England has written to cabinet ministers to raise concerns over chronic delays to fitness to practise (FtP) cases. In its latest report on the regulator, covering 2024, the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) said Social Work England had failed to meet its standard on the fairness and efficiency of its FTP system , for the third year running.
