After School Meltdowns?

So much of what kids are sent to counseling for can be dealt with by that connection. Assuming you are taking your kids to counseling, it is likely the drive together that is really the therapeutic benefit. Don’t discuss school or the counseling. In fact you don’t have to discuss anything.

I have had several messages and conversations this week about violence in schools. If your child isn’t sleeping well at night or expresses fear about attending school, that may not be anxiety as you thought. Again, ask your kid about violence literally in the classroom, let alone the school yard. They were all unrelated.

Hooked on Video Games?

Lastly, there would be an expectation that he either return to school or get a job or attend some training. He had to have a job or be in school first! It took another week, but their son returned to school and then was allowed home. There would be no more gaming in the home. The parents were petrified.

The Fear Wasn’t of School

——— The issue was the child’s fear of going to school. Her child’s fear was not about the school. Her child was not anxious about school, but her safety as she had worried about her mother. Her child did return to school. We talked about the parental relationship. She put it together.
